My children need a little incentive to read. I wish they just laid on the couch or in their beds for hours reading, but they don't. I'm trying desperately to teach them to love reading. So, for the summer, I came up with a plan. For each book they finish they get to put on an ice cream scoop.
ten books = ten ice cream scoops = go out for an ice cream sundae.
Today they were almost to ten. They spent a good part of the day reading to get their ten ice cream scoops. It was wonderful to see them reading. I wish I could lay on the couch and read all day. One day I will.
